Meraki Martial Arts Academy offers Martial Arts lessons for homeschooling families, preschoolers, and private women’s self-defense courses. Our focus is instilling confidence, discipline and respect in our students while building strong and lasting friendships.

Poomsae: These patterns combine various kicking, punching, and blocking techniques. They are used to demonstrate mastery of posture, positioning, and technique.
Kyorugi: Also known as “sparring”, this tests the student’s ability to apply combat techniques in a safe, controlled, and competitive environment against an opponent. This helps students with technique, control, and strategy.
Gyeokpa: Also. known as “breaking”, this skill involves using power and techniques to break hard objects like bricks, tiles, and wood. Each belt level has its own new kicking technique for students to master.
Self-defense This is the most important portion of our curriculum. It is a top priority that our students can learn how to defend themselves from multitudes of situations. Our self-defense styles come from Jiu-Jitsu and Hapkido backgrounds.
Kicks: Taekwondo is renowned for its kicking techniques including front kick, side kick, roundhouse kick, hook kick, and turning back kicks. Each kick has specific techniques and applications.
Stances: Proper stances, such as horse-riding stance and front stance, are crucial for balance and power in taekwondo.
Blocks: These are self-defense techniques teach students how to protect him/herself from attacks. Examples include the low block, outside block, and high block.
Weapons Training: While not a formal part of most taekwondo federations, we are one of the schools who incorporates weapons training with items like swords, knives, bo-staff and nunchucks and more.
Hand Strikes: Using different parts of the hand, such as the forefist, backfist, flying punch, knifehand, fingertips, and palm heel to form various punches and strikes.
